For all those who read the title and thought this post is going to be about some Gray Goose Vodka, sorry not really 😀
On a rainy day, I would like to share this poem with you…no, I’m not feeling depressive or so as the poem may reflect, actually I’m in peace, thankful and positive 🙂 Read it and discover what might it say to you…
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things
– Wild Geese by Mary Oliver
We all have our own questions, problems and dilemmas about the world around us and ourselves. What flashes trough my head after reading this poem is, that we’re not sentenced to despair, anxious or hate. Deep down we all have a light that shines and is good despite all the masks we carry, despite all the faces we show everyday in different situations. There’s no need to suffer, we’re all weak sometimes and that’s OK. You’re more than that. But trying to find some sunshine and be good to ourselves is already a lot – “Meanwhile the world goes on“. There’s a lot more in life, just spread your wings and fly.
So, what did you discover in this poem?
Hope you enjoyed chasing some sunshines on a rainy day 🙂
